As the season of goodwill and gift giving is upon us, I'd like to take a few minutes to give you some inside tips on the perfect gift for your perfect man this Christmas.
Most of the time we forget that jewellery is a perfectly sensible gift to give to a man. As a man, I agree that we can never have enough socks or indeed boxers, but sometimes what I really need is a decent pair of cufflinks or a smart watch.
The amount you decide to spend on your man is of course all relative, but it doesn't cost a lot of money to have a nice bespoke pair of gold cufflinks made. The one's in the image were made for a client last year as a Christmas present their son from his parents. They are in yellow gold and don't have diamonds in. Instead to make them more exciting and striking than a plain disk with the person's initials, we went through some designs together and made this twist feature on a square bar. Another benefit of bespoke is that you can pretty much choose what you want. The end result, naturally, perfection. I know he will get many many years of happiness from these.
Or perhaps these bespoke pieces made from watch movements? My client came to see me after scrapping some old watches. The buckles had gone and the styles were out of fashion, so, I took the movements out and added some fittings tot the backs and this is the look. I managed to breathe new life into these old watches. The nice thing is that the movements still work and they're automatics, so each time he moves his hand the "watch" is self winding!!
Moving on to another option which you may have overlooked, would be a lovely gents luxury watch. What you may also not know, is that I am able to source many luxury brand watches and offer my clients discounts on the suggested retail price. If your man already owns one, perhaps a Rolex, and you think you may have heard talk of him wanting to upgrade it, then you'll be pleased to know that I can also offer a part exchange service. Naturally these high end watches do go up in price year on year, however, they do tend to hold their value. So if you do have one be sure to keep the box and papers in a safe place. Just like a car where the manufacturer will update the model every three years or so, or indeed mobile phone companies like Apple where they bring out the new iPhone every few years, the same thing happens with watches. Be sure to look after it and you'll have a sound investment on your wrist.
